 MIKAO USUI (1865 ~ 1926)

Mikao Usui, Founder of Reiki. In 1922, after years of searching to obtain "the state of enlightenment", he reached this state on Mt. Kurama, and a healing ability. It was the start of Reiki as a practice, and his school called "Shin Shin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho". During his life time, he taught Reiki to over 2000 people and the practice of Reiki spread throughout Japan.

CHIJIRO HAYASHI (1874 ~ 1940

A disciple of Mikao Usui. Dr. Chijiro Hayashi was a former naval physician, he employed Reiki to treat his patients. He created a study group called "Hayashi Reiki Kenkyu­kai" under the guidance of Usui Sensei, but he did not deviate from the teachings of "Usui Reiki Ryoho". He played a major role spreading Reiki to North America and taught Mrs. Hawayo Takata, the grandmother of "Western Reiki".

CHIYOKO HAMAGUCHI (1921 ~ 2003)

In 1938, Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned "Usui Reiki Ryoho" from Chujiro Hayashi. For 65 years, she practice Reiki on a daily basis with her relatives, friends and people in her community. After realizing that the original form of Reiki would be lost if it was not preserved, she established the "Jikiden Reiki Institute" with her son, Tadao Yamaguchi in 1999.

TADAO YAMAGUCHI (1941 ~ PRESENT)

Tadao Yamaguchi is the head of the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan.​

He grew up knowing only Reiki as a source of healing, health and first aid through his mother, Chiyoko Yamaguchi. Tadao Sensei, started Jikiden Reiki in 2000 to give people across the world, as well as in their home country, access to Reiki as it was before it left Japan.

FRANK ARJAVA PETTER (1960 - PRESENT)

Frank Arjava Petter is Vice Representative of the Jikiden Reiki Institute. He grew up in Germany, and after much travel and years of living with the Spiritual Commune/Ashram of Osho Rajneesh, he discovered Reiki, and later found Chiyoko Sensei, and he said it was "love at first sight".  He is an international best seller author of "Reiki Fire", "Reiki, the Legacy of Dr. Usui", "The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui", co-author of "The Spirit of Reiki", "Reiki Best Practices", "The Hayashi Reiki- Manual, "Reiki ganz Klar", "This is Reiki" "One with Reiki" and more.  Arjava travels internationally to teach Jikiden Reiki seminars.

CINDY GRIFFIN, Shihankaku  (1964 - PRESENT)

Cindy Received her first Jikiden training in 2015, and in became a Shihankaku (assistant teacher) in 2018.  She began teaching shortly afterwards and is very excited to spread the love and compassion of Jikiden Reiki in and around Louisiana.  She is the owner of Crown to Root llc. Massage and Bodywork; located in Thibodaux Louisiana, and travels to teach Jikiden seminars.  She invites you to join her on the Reiki journey.
